- ATMs in Thamel, Lakeside and Sauraha usually cap each withdrawal at about NPR 25,000–35,000 and add a local fee of around NPR 500 on top of your bank's charges. Trail ATMs, including Namche's, are unreliable — draw enough before you start.
- Mid-range and upper hotels, trekking agencies and domestic airlines take cards, often with a 3–4% surcharge.
- Heritage sites and national parks charge foreigners more than SAARC visitors; carry your passport for tickets and permits.
