How to apply
- Apply only on the official site: www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html. Agents and look-alike sites charge extra.
- 5 working days after a complete application; longer in busy periods or if referred to Tokyo.
- Apply at least 14 days before you fly.
- Print the approval and keep a copy on your phone for check-in and immigration.
Documents to keep ready
- Passport valid for at least 6 months after you arrive, with two blank pages
- Recent passport-size photo (digital copy for online forms)
- Bank statement for the last 3 to 6 months
- Hotel bookings for every night
- Return or onward flight ticket
